Do toe pads change my pointe shoe size?

They can. Dancers should be fitted wearing the padding they plan to dance in, and switching from a thin pad to a thicker one may call for a size or width change in your pointe shoe. After any change in padding, recheck the fit before ordering another pair from the women’s pointe shoe collection.

Do pointe shoes come with ribbon and elastic?

Yes. Our pointe shoes include double elastic, with enough to crisscross, plus a free basic ribbon. The ribbon discount applies automatically in the cart when ribbon and pointe shoes are ordered together. Choices include Bloch satin ribbon, Pillows stretch ribbon, RP stretch ribbon, and RP matte satin ribbon.

What is the difference between satin and stretch pointe shoe ribbon?

Satin ribbon is the traditional choice, with a classic sheen. Stretch ribbon contains spandex or elastic, so it gives as the ankle moves and can ease pressure on the Achilles tendon.

Should I choose gel or fabric toe pads?

Choosing gel or fabric toe pads will depend on how much cushioning a dancer wants and how much room the shoe has. Gel pads add a cushioning layer that reduces impact on the toes. Fabric and lambswool pads are thinner and take up less space in the box.
